Blue Ridge Mountains, NC
For 5 days and 4 nights, Camp Joy makes its home high in the Blue Ridge Mountains of North Carolina, just 20 minutes from the mountain towns of Boone and Blowing Rock. We’re about 1½ hours from Charlotte and 3 hours from Raleigh, Durham and Chapel Hill, yet once you arrive, it feels wonderfully removed from it all.
Set on nearly 13 acres within a private, gated mountain enclave, our home is surrounded by forest and sweeping views. In October, the Blue Ridge Mountains are at their most beautiful, with brilliant fall color, crisp air and the kind of setting that naturally invites you to slow down.
Designed by renowned Southern architect Bobby McAlpine, the home blends timeless elegance with a deep connection to its surroundings. Expansive windows bring the mountains inside, while natural materials, warm textures and beautifully considered spaces make the house feel both elevated and wonderfully comfortable.
Outdoor living is a big part of life here. A pool and cabana overlook the mountains, with fire pits, outdoor dining spaces and a hot tub perfectly positioned for long soaks under the open sky.
And tucked away on the property is one of our favorite surprises: a private, spring-fed swimming hole surrounded by forest. It’s cold, clear and a little magical, whether you decide to jump in or simply sit beside it and take it all in.
When we feel like venturing out, Boone and Blowing Rock are just 20 minutes away, with independent shops, cafés, restaurants and plenty of small-town mountain charm.
Throughout the retreat, our Inner Joy program is woven into the experience, with morning practices, reflection, meaningful conversation and workshops alongside beautiful meals, mountain adventures and plenty of time to simply be.
This is not just where we stay. The house, the mountains and the quiet of this place are part of the Camp Joy experience itself.

What women often ask before joining a Camp Joy retreat
What makes Camp Joy different from other retreats?
Camp Joy blends beautiful destinations, shared exploration, and meaningful conversation through the Inner Joy sessions. The result is an experience that feels both joyful and deeply connecting. Some women come with friends. Many arrive on their own. By the end of the retreat, everyone feels part of something special.
Do women come on their own?
Yes. Many women arrive on their own, and it quickly becomes one of the most rewarding parts of the experience. Friendships form easily when women gather with openness and shared curiosity.
How structured are the days?
Camp Joy retreats have a natural rhythm with shared experiences, outings, and Inner Joy sessions. There is also plenty of time to relax, explore, or simply enjoy quiet moments.
Do I have to participate in everything?
Not at all. Every activity is optional. Some women join every outing and session, while others take time to rest, read, or explore on their own.
Still wondering if this retreat is right for you?
Most women who join a Camp Joy retreat have questions before they book.
Some are travelling alone. Some haven't taken a trip for themselves in years. Some simply want to know what it really feels like.
