2027 | Provence, France
Just 45 minutes east of Aix-en-Provence, in the heart of Provence Verte, we'll make our home for five nights on a beautiful private domaine in the countryside outside the medieval village of Cotignac.
Surrounded by vineyards, olive groves and unspoiled countryside, our 10-bedroom Provençal farmhouse looks toward the peaceful St. Joseph Monastery in the Bessillon mountains. This quieter, slightly wilder corner of Provence feels wonderfully removed from the tourist trail.
The property's rich history is woven into its character. Stone archways in the great hall were once part of the monastery's stables, dating back to the 1600s. Today, the farmhouse has been lovingly modernized while preserving its original charm and soul.
Just nine minutes away, the enchanting village of Cotignac sits beneath dramatic limestone cliffs. Think cobblestone lanes, café terraces, a lively weekly market and the kind of village square that makes you want to order another coffee and stay awhile.
Back at home, the property unfolds across three buildings, with hidden patios, dining beneath the trees, a swimming pool, sauna and plenty of places to disappear with a book or gather with the group. There's pétanque and ping pong at apéro hour, space to create, and even an in-ground trampoline if the mood strikes.
Like many centuries-old Provençal homes, the bedrooms vary in size, layout and personality, and bathrooms are shared between two bedrooms. Storage can be cozy. What you gain in return is something we think is far more memorable: authenticity, history, character and Provence right outside your window. You'll find details on the Accommodation and Pricing page.
And woven throughout your time here is Inner Joy, our signature Camp Joy experience, creating space to reconnect with yourself while enjoying everything this remarkable corner of Provence has to offer.
Room and Pricing Overview
We’re delighted to present a variety of options and price points to fit your needs. All prices include meals and snacks, drinks (wine, aperatifs, and, of course, non-alcoholic options), all on-site and off-site activities, and moments of surprise and delight.
Rooms with king beds can be reserved just for you or shared with a loved one or friend. If you choose a shared room with twin beds, and aren't coming with someone you know, we are happy to pair you with a wonderful roommate. In Cotignac, Queen beds are available as private rooms only.
All bedrooms are air conditioned and are furnished with towels and bedding. Bathroom amenities include: shampoo, conditioner, body wash, hair dryer. We will also provide pool and yoga towels.
Please note that in Cotignac, ALL bathrooms are shared with one other room. As with many beautiful historic homes in Europe, most bedrooms aren’t large and storage can be a challenge but they’re full of charm and character!
Pricing is based on a 5-night stay. Check out the Extend Your Stay tab for hotel recommendations and ideas for anyone wishing to stay earlier or later.
Good to Know: 45 minutes east of Aix-en-Provence • nearest major airport Marseille (MRS) • nearest TGV Aix-en-Provence • nearest village: Cotignac, 9 minutes • shared bathrooms between every two bedrooms.
What women often ask before joining a Camp Joy retreat
What makes Camp Joy different from other retreats?
Camp Joy blends beautiful destinations, shared exploration, and meaningful conversation through the Inner Joy sessions. The result is an experience that feels both joyful and deeply connecting. Some women come with friends. Many arrive on their own. By the end of the retreat, everyone feels part of something special.
Do women come on their own?
Yes. Many women arrive on their own, and it quickly becomes one of the most rewarding parts of the experience. Friendships form easily when women gather with openness and shared curiosity. Coming on your own you have the choice of a private room and, when available, being matched with someone in a room with 2 single beds.
I see that you have many options to share a bed, that's not something I've done before with anyone other than my partner. Hmmm.
We totally get that! It's why shared king beds must be booked with someone you know . . . and we suggest sharing snoring and bedtime habits before doing so!
Marea and Monique learned this the hard way on their first Camp Joy scouting trip :-)
How structured are the days?
Camp Joy retreats have a natural rhythm with shared experiences, outings, and Inner Joy sessions. There is also plenty of time to relax, explore, or simply enjoy quiet moments.
Do I have to participate in everything?
Not at all. Every activity is optional. Some women join every outing and session, while others take time to rest, read, or explore on their own.
How does your pricing and booking work?
Our retreat prices are listed per person, but our booking system displays the total cost of the room, including both guests when sharing. For example, a room priced at $5,200 per person will appear as $10,400 when booking for two. You don't pay the full amount when you book. A 50% deposit of the total room cost secures your reservation, with the balance due later.
Rooms designed for two guests sharing a king bed or twin beds must be booked together, with one payment covering the deposit for both guests. Where individual twin beds are available to book separately, you'll pay a 50% deposit of your own retreat cost.
If you have questions about booking or payment arrangements, please get in touch before reserving your room.
Still wondering if this retreat is right for you?
Most women who join a Camp Joy retreat have questions before they book. Some are travelling alone. Some haven't taken a trip for themselves in years. Some simply want to know what it really feels like.
