Zihuatanejo, February 28 - March 6, 2026

Design element

We’re thrilled to announce the newest Camp Joy location: a breathtaking cliffside villa in Zihuatanejo for our 6-night, 7-day retreat.

When we toured the property in March 2025, it took our breath away—perched above the Pacific Ocean, every corner inspired visions of where Camp Joy magic would unfold.

This location offers the best of both worlds: the luxury of a private villa with panoramic ocean views, and the vibrant, laid-back charm of Zihuatanejo’s food, culture, and coastal energy.

The Camp Joy villa is a stunning collection of connected buildings with two pools, expansive outdoor spaces, and seven beautifully appointed bedrooms—each with a terrace, private bath and most with indoor/outdoor showers.

Designed in modern Mexican style and filled with vibrant folk art, the villa is pure luxury, with access to the exclusive SLS beach club, and golf cart shuttle to Playa Las Gatas.

Camp Joy Zihua blends daily yoga, Inner Joy workshops, and luxurious downtime with immersive local experiences. You’ll enjoy a mix of on-site activities and off-site adventures that connect you to the heart of Zihuatanejo—think exploring vibrant markets, dipping into warm water beaches, and savoring just-caught seafood with your feet in the sand.

Unlike its more famous neighbours, Zihuatanejo offers a laid-back atmosphere rooted in its fishing village heritage, making it an ideal destination for travelers seeking both relaxation and cultural immersion.

Recently named a Pueblo Mágico, Zihuatanejo also boasts two globally recognized Blue Flag beaches, honoring clean, safe, accessible shores.

If Zihuatanejo sounds familiar, it’s the paradise Andy Dufresne dreamt of in The Shawshank Redemption.

Rooms and Pricing

We’re thrilled to present a variety of options and price points to fit your needs. All prices include meals and snacks, drinks (wine, margaritas, and, of course, non-alcoholic options), all on-site and off-site activities, and moments of surprise and delight.

Suites with king beds can be reserved just for you or shared with a loved one or friend. If you choose a Campista Suite and aren't coming with women you know, we are happy to pair you with wonderful roommates.

How Do I Get to Zihuatanejo?

Zihuatanejo is served by the Zihuatanejo / Ixtapa airport (ZIH). There are weekly flights from most major hubs in Canada, and daily flights from Houston (IAH), Phoenix (PHX) L.A. (LAX), Dallas (DFW), and Mexico City (MEX).

Culture & Cuisine

  • Zihuatanejo—known as “Zihua” (“zee-wha”) to its fans—is a charming Pacific coastal town in Mexico, rich in authentic experiences.

  • At sunrise, watch fishermen bring in the day’s catch, as the town comes to life. Wander through town and the local market or enjoy a meal at a toes-in-the-sand restaurant while enjoying the beach and warm water.

  • The town's vibrant culture is palpable as you stroll along the Paseo del Pescador, a beachfront promenade that runs through downtown.

  • Local delicacies like pozole and freshly caught seafood are abundant, and you can always find a margarita or limonada by the shore.

  • For a deeper cultural dive, visit the Costa Grande Archaeological Museum to explore the region's pre-Hispanic history.

Beaches & Water Activities

  • Playa La Ropa: Known for its golden sands and gentle waves, it's perfect for hanging out, swimming, paddleboarding, and parasailing.

  • Playa Las Gatas: Accessible by golf cart from the villa, this beach features calm waters ideal for snorkeling, with the added allure of a sunken bronze Christ statue beneath the surface.

  • Playa Blanca & Playa Larga: These expansive, less-developed beaches offer serene settings for long walks, and witnessing breathtaking sunsets.

  • Playa Larga also hosts a Temazcal, a traditional indigenous sweat hut.

  • Barra de Potosí is a tranquil village just south of Zihuatanejo, known for its coastal lagoon and wildlife. It’s a perfect escape for nature lovers—offering birdwatching, kayaking, and boat tours through the mangroves.
